Have a great hair day ... everyday
I’m having a great hair day
Seriously, has anyone else ever noticed that if you’re
having a great hair day, you can head out of the house with no make-up and
still look fabulous? I am a beauty queen. I love make-up! But on great hair
days, I can still feel amazing without it.
So, how can you make everyday a great hair day?
Well, for all of you past 30 reading this, you know your
hair experiences changes as you age. It gets drier. It thins out. It changes
texture. And, of course, it grays. So, how does Jennifer Aniston, at 40, still
have amazing hair? How does Dana Delaney (in her 50’s) still have the most
gorgeous head of hair you’ve ever seen – a head that earned her the nickname
Breck? Turns out there are a few secrets, beyond their standard, “I wake up
amazing every day,” that keep fabulous heads of hair, fabulous.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Moroccan Oil – Google this stuff and you’ll find a
ton of celebs who use it: http://www.moroccanoil.com/
There’s a reason, it’s an amazing product and it smells great. It’s oil that
absorbs into the hair without leaving it greasy – so, you get the shine and
conditioning without the grease head effect. You can’t buy this in stores, only
in salons. And, not on the official web site either. The web site does have a
salon locator. I got mine in Columbus from Michael Puccetti at Salon Lofts.
It’s roughly $14 a bottle and you only use a little bit. The brochure that came
with it said it cuts drying time by 40% and I can say, it does cut my drying
time tremendously, plus my hair looks shiny and soft.
Nioxin – http://www.nioxin.com/en/products/scalp--hair-care
This is a DHT blocker product. So as we age, we secrete DHT (a by-product of
testosterone). I don’t know all of the science behind it, but I do know that
DHT makes hair thin and eventually fall out. Nioxin blocks that and keeps hair
from thinning. You can get it in salons, beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta,
etc. And, it’s more expensive - $20-$30 a bottle, but if you want to keep your
thick hair luscious, it’s worth the expense. This is a great product for guys,
too!
Exercise – Did you know regular exercise keeps you
from graying prematurely? It’s true. Check out the reason: http://www.naturalnews.com/001970.html
Coconut Oil – For lackluster hair, a $4 jar of
coconut oil does wonders. It’s actually a great skin and hair conditioner. I
try to do a “mask” once a moth, really hitting my scalp and letting the rest of
my hair absorb it. I leave it on for an hour (wearing a shower cap – I know,
less than GLAM), wash it off and my hair is soft, frizz free and silky. You can
get this at any drug store or natural foods store. Plus if you have a dry,
itchy scalp, this really relieves it and seems to clear up psoriasis.
TTFN, so Ciao Bella and may
you always be blessed to walk in great lighting.
